Col. James Kovac, 701st Combat Operations Squadron commander, speaks with his squadron for the first time right after his change of command ceremony, July 12, March Air Reserve Base, California. Kovac, who was previously assigned to the 701st COS for many years as the Air Component Coordination Element Director, assumed command from Col. Paul Fast, the outgoing 701st COS commander. The 701st provides decisive airpower to support combatant commanders around the globe but specifically concentrates on the Korean theater of operations. The unit supports joint missions by using cyber-space, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, and other activities. (U.S. Air Force photo by Tech. Sgt. Heather Skinkle/released)
