New era begins for Reserve wing

BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- July 13, 2008, Chief Master Sgt. John Erwin, 940th Mainenance Squadron superintendent, presented CMSgt. Stu Bisland, 940th Maintenance Group production supervisor, with the gift that Chief Bisland has given away many times already, to departing members of their organzation. Under the direction of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure, the tanker operations and maintenance functions here stand down with the transfer of the KC-135s to Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. All the maintenance personnel have found new positions as the 940th Air Refueling Wing looks to the future as a classic associate unit, partnering with the regular Air Force in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions. A Relinquishment and Assumption of Command Ceremony to include deactivation of the maintenance and tanker operations is scheduled here Sept. 13, 2008. (US Air Force photo/Master Sgt. Ellen L.
