940th commander celebrates fini flight

BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, CALIF. -- Air Force Reservist Col. Al Reif, 940th Air Refueling Wing commander, laughs at the sight of his family and staff waiting on the flight line here Apr. 25, 2008, to give him the traditional water dousing after his final or "fini" flight in one of the wing's KC-135R Stratotankers. The jet Col. Reif flew is one of the last two scheduled to depart May 3, 2008, for reassignment to the 916th ARW, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. While the 940th ARW is drawing down its legacy KC-135R mission, as directed by the Base Closure and Realignment Commission, Beale Reservists are partnering with active duty Airmen to support emerging command and control, and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions.
