940th ARW commander celebrates fini flight

BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, CALIF. -- Lisa Reif, wife of 940th Air Refueling Wing commander Col. Al Reif, follows up his traditional "fini" flight water dousing with a cold champagne shower Apr. 25, 2008. An Air Force Reservist, Col. Reif flew one of the last two KC-135R Stratotankers still assigned to the wing. Those jets depart May 3, 2008, for the 916th ARW, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. While the 940th ARW is drawing down its legacy KC-135R mission, as directed by the Base Closure and Realignment Commission, Beale Reservists are partnering with active duty Airmen to fly the RQ-4 Global Hawk, an unmanned surveillance and reconnaissance jet, as well as support emerging command and control, and intelligence missions.
