Farewell to the KC-135
The last two KC-135 Stratotankers assigned to the Air Force Reserve's 940th Air Refueling Wing at Beale Air Force Base, Calif., taxied through a water arch prior to departure for their new home with the 916th ARW, Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C. during a ceremony May 3, 2008. The 940th is changing to emerging missions, including the unmanned RQ-4 Global Hawk, as directed by the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The 940th flew the KC-135 for over 31 years at McClellan, Mather, and Beale AFBs. (U.S. Air Force photo/T.C. Perkins)
