BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
Capt. Jesse Cason took command of the 940th Civil Engineer Flight from Lt. Col. Michael Onines at a ceremony, March 1, on Beale Air Force Base, Calif.
The mission of the 940 CEF includes fire emergency services and emergency management forces. Fire emergency services provide air rescue fire fighting in support of major combat, regional conflict or contingency operations at bare bases, forward operating locations, aerial ports, en route bases or critical statewide bases. Emergency management forces prepare, respond, and recover from all hazards, whether natural or manmade, to include active chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear.
The reserve unit recently transitioned from a squadron with construction and fire missions to its current focus on emergency response after the 583rd RED HORSE (Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers) unit stood up at Beale in July 2013.
Onines said Cason, an engineering officer with experience leading deployed forces worldwide to include Honduras, Germany and Afghanistan, is more than capable of leading the flight to continued success.
"I look forward to training and working with what will soon be the best emergency response team in the Air Force Reserve," said Cason.
