BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
Reserve recruiters sponsored an on-base career fair here, March 19, to provide active-duty members with information about career opportunities and Reserve benefits.
The event took place on the heels of the Air Force's Fiscal Year 15 Force Structure Plan released earlier this month. Secretary of the Air Force Deborah Lee James said the plan called for the Air Force to leverage opportunities to rebalance personnel and force structure into the Reserve Component wherever possible,
"We're definitely interested in capturing the expertise of active duty affected by end strength reductions," said Col. Kevin Cavanagh, 940th Wing commander. "By retaining these highly trained individuals in the Reserve, we can ensure a capable, ready force at the lowest possible cost to taxpayers."
Senior Reserve recruiter, Senior Master Sgt. Carla Lang, called Wednesday's fair successful.
"There was a steady stream of interested personnel," Lang said. "It was a good turnout, and those attending left with good information about the range of Reserve benefits, including medical coverage and tuition assistance."
In addition, she said subject matter experts from the 940th Wing were on hand to discuss current openings in their units.
In-house recruiters at the event said plans for future career fairs at Beale are already underway.
