BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
The first wing-wide “Top-Three” enlisted ranks induction ceremony is April 2 at 3 p.m. at Recce Point Club.
The ceremony will recognize twenty-eight new senior non-commissioned officers from across the 940th Air Refueling Wing.
“Becoming a senior NCO really changes a person's life. They assume a different role and added responsibility. They become senior managers,” said Master Sgt. Charles Marchant , 940 ARW Top-Three president and 940th Maintenance Operations Flight First Sergeant. “This ceremony is an acknowledgement of their new role and of all the hard work that went into getting to this point in their career.”
The wing Top-Three Association is hosting the event. Inductees, their families and friends, and wing members are invited to attend. Refreshments and induction mementos were paid for by fund-raising at various wing functions.
“Everyone in our wing helped make this event a reality with their donations,” said Master Sergeant Eva Beckner, Wing Top-Three vice president and NCO in charge of the 940 ARW Chaplain Office. “We really appreciate their support.”
Sergeant Beckner emphasizes fund-raising will help the Top-Three host other events for the wing and community. The group is asking for donations for a white elephant sale during the wing annual picnic June 11. Donated items must be in good condition and delivered to Top-Three members or officers by June 10.
In addition to the white elephant sale, the Top-Three challenges 940th units to create gift baskets for a silent auction also during the wing picnic. The unit whose basket raises the most money will be recognized by the Top-Three with a framed certificate and their picture on the wing website, The Refueler.
The Top-Three helps continue the 940th's best traditions, promotes and maintains morale, perpetuates esprit de corps and encourages goodwill and mutual understanding among all senior NCOs.
The next 940th Top-Three meeting is scheduled March 4 at 2 p.m. in the Wing Conference Room. All wing senior NCOs are invited to attend.
“At a minimum we'd like to have two representatives from each flight or squadron,” Sergeant Marchant said.
“We want to ensure each unit is represented and takes the word back to their people about what is going on,” Sergeant Beckner added.
The Top-Three leadership includes as president, Sergeant Marchant; vice president, Sergeant Beckner; secretary, Master Sgt. Joy West, 940th Services Flight; and treasurer, Master Sgt Jason Henderson, 940th Civil Engineering Squadron.
