News Briefs is a list of unit events and information for 940th Air Refueling Wing personnel.

Mission Support Group photo
The 940th Mission Support Group will have a group photo taken at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007 in front of Dock 5 at Beale Air Force Base. All 940th MSG personnel should attend unless attending previously made appointments.

Update emergency contact info
Reservists must check/update their emergency contact information at least once a year or during life changes such as marriage, births, etc. This information is also required for deployment. To update personal emergency data, go to http://ask.afpc.randolph.af.mil, click on the vMPF Self Service Applications button, then click on Record of Emergency Data located on the left side of the screen under Most Popular Applications. Please verify and update all requested information.

FOD walk
A foreign object debris walk is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. Saturday, 3 March. Participants will meet at the wash rack before going onto the flight line. All wing personnel not attending previously scheduled training are encouraged to attend. For more information or questions, please call Master Sgt. Michael Harriman at 530-634-1515.

BRAC briefing
A Military Personnel BRAC briefing for 940th Maintenance and Operations Groups' traditional reservists is from 9-11 a.m. Sunday, March 4, 2007 in Dock 5. This briefing will discuss job options for BRAC affected TRs. All attendees, and people who cannot attend, are encourage to visit the website at https://wwwmil.a1.afrc.af.mil/brac/default.htm, for more information and suspenses for actions. Medical Clinic hours
The medical clinic will be open from 8 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3 for Reservists during the drill weekend. Services include physical and occupational examinations, the Immunization Clinic, and gas mask and respirator fit testing at Flight Medicine. The yellow fever vaccination is not currently available. The clinic will be closed Sunday for training. 

Suicide prevention briefing
A 4th Air Force directed Suicide Prevention and Steroid Awareness briefing is scheduled for the 940th ARW on Sunday, April 15 at the Beale Community Center. Briefing times are 8 a.m. for the Operations and Maintenance Groups and the Aerospace Medicine Flight, and 9:30 a.m. for the 940th Headquarters' Staff and Mission Support Group . Attendance is required.

Speaker's Bureau volunteers
The 940th Public Affairs office is looking for wing volunteers to be speakers at local events. For more information or to volunteer, please call the PA office at 530-634-1818.

Personnel actions website
Many personnel actions are no longer handled by local Military Personnel Flights. Retirements, requests for 20-year letters and many other actions now must be done on-line through the Virtual Personnel Center - Guard and Reserve (vPC-GR). All Airmen can sign up for vPC-GR by going to: http://arpc.afrc.af.mil, click on the vPC-GR icon and follow the directions to establish a new account. The AFRC vice commander is requiring all officers, supervisors, and senior non-commissioned officers establish a vPC-GR account no later than April 2, 2007.

Required language survey
All Airmen must take an on-line foreign language survey to identify current language capabilities and to plan for future requirements. To take the survey, follow this link: https://surveys.af.mil/srvyonl/sentry/FLSA2.htm. Suspense for this mandatory requirement is Apr. 1, 2007.

BAH requirement
All Reservists are required to recertify their Basic Allowance for Housing every three years in accordance with DODFMR Volume 7A. Unit orderly rooms have copies of Air Force Form 594, Application and Authorization to Start, Stop or Change Basic Allowance for Quarters. Members should ensure all required supporting documentation is included. The suspense to Finance, Reserve Pay Office is Mar. 4, 2007. Air Force Week California
Air Force Week California in Sacramento is June 4-10, 2007. This is an opportunity to inform and educate the public about the Air Force's critical role in national defense. The week finishes with the Capital City Air Show at the former Mather Air Force Base June 9-10, with the USAF Thunderbirds headlining. The 940th Public Affairs office is looking for wing volunteers to be speakers at local events. For more information or to volunteer, please call the PA office at 530-634-1818.

Reserve and Guard W-2s are now available on the web at MyPay. To access and print a W-2 go to https://mypay.dfas.mil/mypay.aspx and log in to the site.

Free tax preparation
Military OneSource is offering free tax preparation and filing for active duty, Guard, and Reserve members and their families. Simply go to the program through www.militaryonesource.com. The program provides a step-by-step process, required forms and documentation, performs the calculations, and includes tax-relevant questions about issues like deployment and relocation.
