News Briefs is a list of unit events and information for 940th Air Refueling Wing personnel.
Wing family day pancake breakfast
The First Sergeant's Council is hosting the annual free pancake breakfast Sunday, May 6, 2007 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. in Dock 5 and the Civil Engineer Squadron conference room. Breakfast is for 940th ARW personnel and their families only. The food will be served as long as it lasts, so come early. Donations accepted. For more information, contact unit First Sergeants.
Wing picnic
The Wing Family Day Picnic is Sunday, May 6, 2007 from noon to 4:30 p.m. in the grassy area near Bldg 1086. Wing members are welcome to bring their families. Festivities include food and drinks, music, games, and children activities. A Global Hawk static display will be setup in Dock 6 from noon to 2 p.m. The Wing Top Three will also hold a silent auction on "Themed Baskets" and quality "White Elephant" items. Medical Clinic hours
The medical clinic will be open from 8 to 11:45 a.m. and 2 to 3:20 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007 for Reservists during the drill weekend. Services include physical and occupational examinations, the Immunization Clinic, and gas mask and respirator fit testing at Flight Medicine. The yellow fever vaccination is not currently available. The clinic will be closed Sunday, May 6 for training.
California Army National Guard positions
The California Army National Guard has a recruitment briefing May 5, at 1 p.m. in Dock 5 for 940 ARW personnel. The Guard will discuss positions available in Northern California as well as Guard bonuses, flying positions, the Warrant Officer program and Commissioned Officer positions. A booth is also setup in Dock 5 with information on both May 5 and 6, 2007.
Wearing the AFRC patch
All 940th ARW personnel should be wearing the Air Force Reserve Command patch as of May 1, 2007. Any personnel who need patches should see their unit orderly rooms.
Booster Club membership dues
Wing personnel need to renew their 940th Air Refueling Wing Booster Club membership dues. A table will be set up at the picnic to help with registration. Membership dues support wing events and humanitarian and emergency necessities for 940th personnel who are in need, or have been burdened with an untimely crisis. Wing members can register with their unit First Sergeants or contact Family Support directly. Dues are based on the member's rank.
Volunteers needed for track meets
Yuba County Schools needs volunteers to help work the spring track meets. The first track meet is May 15 from 12:30 to 5:00 p.m. for Yuba County Intermediate Schools. The second meet is May 24 from 3:00 to 7:30 p.m. and is the Bi-County Final for intermediate schools in both Yuba and Sutter counties. Air Force Week California
Air Force Week California in Sacramento is June 4-10, 2007. Military personnel and their families are welcome to attend many of the events that will inform and educate the public about the Air Force's critical role in national defense.
