BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
The 940th Wing is holding its first-ever Yellow Ribbon event Nov 8 at the Recce Point Club. This Air Force Reserve Command program is for Reservists deploying for 90 days or more and their family members.
The goal of the Yellow Ribbon Program is to prepare Airmen for mobilization, to sustain families during mobilization, and to reintegrate Airmen with their families, communities, and employers upon return from deployment. It is a continuous command-wide effort, and events will be held for the three stages of deployment. The pre-deployment, during deployment, and post-deployment events will include family members, including parents, spouses, children.
Sunday's program will include information on current benefits, resources available to help overcome the challenges of the deployment cycle, and interactive presentations designed to engage Airmen and their families in resolving specific concerns. Attendees will hear talks from the base chaplain, Military Family Life consultants, TRICARE, and other key organizations. Family members attending will have the opportunity to create video messages to be sent later to the deployed person.
To show their appreciation of service members and their families, local merchants have donated prizes to be given away at Saturday's event. Prizes include gift certificates from Sacramento area businesses, including Pita Pit, Leatherby Arden, and Salon on J Street.
Daycare will be provided for the event. To make arrangements for childcare, contact MSgt DuChesne at 530-209-4369. Lodging will be provided, as well, for participants residing outside the commute area. To make lodging reservations, contact SSgt Lebaeu at 530-634-1771.
