BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
Eight 940th Reservists are slated for promotion in March, according to the Promotion Enhancement Program list recently released by 940th Wing Career Enhancement NCOIC, Tech Sgt. Dorian Banks.
Those promoting this month include Airman Silvania Raposo, Senior Airman Mary Jeffries, Senior Airman Joshua Kerr, Senior Airman Dennis Licon, Senior Airman Arturo Smith, Senior Airman Matthew Woolridge, Senior Airman Jacob Birtwhistle, and Staff Sgt. Hason DeLion.
"Promotion at all levels has become very competitive within the Reserves," said Harold Butler, 940th Wing Education Manager. He advises Reservists to complete their professional military education requirements well ahead of time.
"More emphasis is being placed on programs like the NCO Leadership Development Program," Butler said. "Enrollment in these courses fills up fast. We just graduated an NCOLDP class of twelve, and we're already taking volunteers for the June class."
NCOLDP is an Air Force Reserve Command professional development course designed to prepare a mid-level NCO for the increased responsibilities of being a Senior NCO. Established in 1989, the program provides an educational environment for NCO's to explore current AFRC issues. The training is vital in helping participants achieve their potential as supervisors, according to literature disbursed by the AFRC Professional Development Center. Butler said the ten-day course is now mandatory for Reservists to promote to Master Sergeant.
Anyone interested in enrolling in the upcoming NCOLDP or other professional development courses can contact their unit training manager or phone Mr. Butler at 634-1844.
