BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. –
The
Beale Outdoor Activity Center is catering specifically to 940th Wing Reservists with their new program, Taste of Gold Country.
The program, which kicks off in January, will offer exclusive trips to area attractions on Saturday night of the monthly Unit Training Assembly weekends.
"We've received great pricing and assistance from local businesses. They're looking forward to providing Reservists and their guests with some great activities," said Debi Best, Outdoor Recreation and ITT director.
Best said the trips are a great way for wing members who travel to Beale from other parts of the state or country for UTA weekends to experience area establishments and entertainment opportunities.
"We do all the planning, so you don't have to worry about buying tickets or arranging transportation," Best said.
On Jan. 8, the Taste of Gold Country will visit a Spanish-style wine cave for a sit-down tasting of award-winning wines paired with flavorful tapas. Cost of the trip is $35. The deadline to sign-up is Jan. 5. Payment is due at the time of registration.
In February, the program will sponsor a trip to see the Sacramento Kings take on Oklahoma City at Arco Arena. The trip package includes a ticket for a center court seat and $20 worth of food and beverages.
The March excursion will take participants to historic Auburn's Holiday Inn. Local vintners from Lone Buffalo Winery will provide tastings and answer questions regarding different varietals and food pairings. The evening will culminate with dinner at Max's Restaurant.
"We hope 940th Wing members will take advantage of this new program," said Best. "Our goal is to provide our Reservists with a chance to unwind and relax on a Saturday evening after working all day."
