The 940th Wing activated its newest squadron during a ceremony Jan. 9 at the Recce Point Club.

The new 940th Force Support Squadron merged the 940th Services Flight and Mission Support Flight, which were both deactivated prior to the 940th FSS stand-up.

The squadron follows an Air Force-wide initiative that merges both personnel and services functions into one organization.

Lt. Col. Patricia Brewer, 940th Mission Support Group commander, said the merging of the two flights is a step in the right direction for the wing.

"It gives us synergy, especially during wartime and deployments," said Colonel Brewer, referring to the new FSS as a "one-stop-shop for all services and personnel-type needs."

Even though the name has changed, 940th Wing Airmen will not notice a difference in customer service.

"The only thing that has changed is the name; the quality of service is still here," said Lt. Col. Michael Rousseau, 940th FSS Operations Officer. "Now that we have merged , we can utilize the strengths of both groups to meet the mission requirements."
