Three members of the 940th Wing Civil Engineer Squadron where presented with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal during a ceremony here Jan. 6.
Colonel Patricia Brewer, 940th Wing Mission Support Group Commander, presided over the ceremony honoring the airmen for their actions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Major Rudolph Bartley- Deputy Squadron Commander and Operations Officer
Major Bartley served with the 777th Expeditionary Prime Beef Squadron, 1st Expeditionary Civil Engineer Group, Camp Dwyer Afghanistan. During his time in Afghanistan Bartley directed 69 military and 55 civilian contractors in engineering operations across 252 bases in the area. He also led the completion of 10,000 construction inspections, 95 designs and 55 surveys throughout the Joint Operations Area Afghanistan.
"It was a great experience working with the Marines in a joint environment. Being able to share ideas and experiences between the services enhances our ability to do our job at home and in a deployed environment." said Bartley.
Captain Jesse Cason Jr. - Officer in Charge
Cason served as Officer in Charge, 777th expeditionary Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Squadron, Camp Dwyer Afghanistan, where he oversaw the construction of the Afghan National Army and Police compounds. Under his supervision the squadron increased mission success through project management of base operations and sustainment infrastructure projects as well as projects outside the base perimeter.
"It would be nice to go back again years later and see the facilities that helped better the future of the Afghan people," said Cason.
Master Sergeant Kenneth Dealtonaga -Project Manager and Project Inspector
Dealtonaga served as a project manager, 777th Expeditionary Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force Squadron, Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan. His mission was to inspect local buildings completed by the Afghan population and make they sure the structures were safe and livable. His participation in more than 40 construction inspections outside the base perimeter enabled freedom of movement throughout the area for coalition forces.
"I have been on prior deployments but this one was different, it was intense," said Dealtonaga.
The Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal is awarded to service members who, while serving in any capacity with the Navy or Marine Corps, distinguish themselves by heroism, outstanding achievement or meritorious service.
