BEALE AIR FORCE BASE, California -- With the Contrails Dining Facility under restoration, the 9th Force Support Squadron continues to operate in the Ramoneda Grill until its estimated completion in March, 2019.
The 9th FSS led a smooth transition to the Ramoneda Grill without missing a single meal and allowing Airman to continue services.
“The Contrails facility closed at 1 a.m. on June 11, 2018 and the Ramoneda grill opened at 5:30 a.m. that same morning,” said TSgt. Christopher T. Evans, 9th FSS NCO in charge of food service. “Even in a smaller facility, we are still able to offer the majority of what we offered at the Contrails.”
The planning process for a move and renovation of this scale, estimated at $5.3 million, required help from many units, contractors, and leadership.
“We had to get everything moved and installed in five days but were able to get it done within three,” Evans said. “Team Beale Airmen, from civil engineering, communication, force support and many others, really had a big part in keeping everything running efficiently.”
There were two Airmen that stood out to the 9th Mission Support Group leadership for their hard work and positive attitude toward customers during the transition. At a recent commander’s call, Airman 1st Class Chelsea Tansley and Airman Hana Parker, 9th FSS food service specialist, were coined by Lt. Col. Michael Edwards, 9th FSS deputy commander, on behalf of Col. Shannon L. Juby, 9th MSG commander.
“I feel like the recognition was for the entire facility,” Tansley said. “It’s all about having a positive attitude, because it's not always easy to work with the public. But keeping that positive attitude makes the people around you motivated.”
