Local reservist honors sheriff supervisor at ceremony

Staff Sgt. Erskine Reed, Beale Air Force Base reservist and Sacramento County deputy sheriff, and his long time supervisor, Sgt. Daniel McAuliffe, hold one of the two awards given to McAuliffe for his excellent supervision of Reed at a ceremony at the Sheriff's Training Academy in Sacramento, Calif., June 17. Reed, a long time sheriff and new reservist, nominated McAuliffe to receive two Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve awards for his support of Reed's military career. For a successful military career, it's vital for reservists to have the support and understanding of their civilian employers, especially when flexible schedules and absences may be required to accommodate military service.
